The Territory

Overview

The Sacred Valley is Cusco’s antidote: nearly six hundred metres lower, sheltered by glacial ridges, and threaded by the Vilcanota river. Here the Inca engineered some of the most sophisticated agriculture on earth.

We use the valley as both a destination and a physiological strategy—descending first to acclimatise among terraces, salt pans and weaving hamlets before returning to the high capital.
