Upon your arrival in Cusco. You will be greeted by your guide and taken by private transfer to the Sacred Valley (approx. 2 hrs transfer).

On route, you will visit the Awana Cancha textile center to see and know the andean camelids.

Chahuaytire is a rural community that is located about 45 minutes in the upper part of Pisaq, in the Sacred Valley. It is reached after touring part of the potato circuit, where hundreds of varieties of this tuber are grown, and passing by small towns and beautiful Andean landscapes. The community is in a hollow surrounded by hills and ichu. Because of the height, their farms are small and they grow potatoes, beans and quinoa. They are also shepherds of those sheep, llamas and alpacas whose wool, later, form one of the most beautiful fabrics that can be found throughout the department.

Every day, in addition to the fair Wednesday, it is possible to reach the community and ask its weavers to see their work. It is the day when men and women go out to the little square covered with grass, to assemble their looms and start their craft work. The alpaca and sheep threads, the natural dyes extracted from the plants, the flowers and clays that cover the puna, and the geometric and animal designs, are the protagonists of the fair day.

Later you will visit the typical and beautiful Pisac market. Where you will have lunch.

The Pisac Market is one of the most famous markets in the Cusco region, drawing many visitors to its famous Sunday market when indigenous Quechua communities from the surrounding highlands come to Pisac to sell their produce and stock up on supplies for the week.

A large section of the market is dedicated to tourist-oriented souvenir stalls where you can find weavings, jewellery, ponchos, hats, Andean instruments, ceramics, alpaca products and a whole range of other gifts and souvenirs to take home with you. The handcraft market is open every day from 9am to 4.30pm and is a good place to pick up some gifts all in the one place.

It will allow us to directly relate to the whole community and be close to the way of life of the people, eat with them, work, share their beliefs, cook, participate in all their daily activities. In this way both parties both you and the inhabitants learn different cultures, one from the other. More than anything, it is learning from shared and lived experience.

The community of Mullakas Misminay is located near the District of Maras, which has great landscapes and colorful fields of culture. Over time, they were in charge of producing beautiful colored fabrics, with Andean designs, a heritage that they received from many past generations. Enjoy a wonderful and charming stay in the sacred valley, rest assured that it will have the best service and you will feel like the millenary culture captures you in its magic of the Andes.

First you will participate in local farming activities, learn ancestral techniques and use farming tools that date back to pre-Inca times.

Moray is famous for its amphitheatre-type ruins formed by circular terraces. The purpose of these depressions is uncertain, but their depth, design, and orientation with respect to wind and sun creates a temperature difference of as much as 15 °C (27 °F) between the top and the bottom. It is possible that this large temperature difference was used by the Inca to study the effects of different climatic conditions on crops. Speculation about the site has led to discussion about Moray as an Inca agricultural experiment station. Its microclimatic conditions and other significant characteristics led to the use of the site as a center for the ancient study of domestication, acclimatization, and hybridization of wild vegetable species that were modified or adapted for human consumption.

Private transfer (approx. 40 min transfer) to Maras to the house of a local chef, and enjoy a espectacular lunch with a breathtaking views of the andes.

After lunch, you will be transfer to Maras salt mines.

The Maras salt terraces display a spectacle of unusual beauty. Located on a wide, open hill above the Urubamba Valley, the salt water runs along channels which extend through the flooded lands and follow a more or less rectangular pattern, depending on the variations in the land. The water, which is exposed to the sun, leaves salt on the bed. Viewed from above, the myriad of rectangles look like an enormous painting designed by nature.

The salt mines traditionally have been available to any person from the community wishing to harvest salt. The size of the salt pond assigned to a family depends on the family’s size.

A living example of what an Inca town was like. The fort is preserved in time, containing houses, streets and channels from the Tahuantinsuyo period. The name of the town and the archaeological area is owed to Cacique Ollanta, who, according to legend, fell in love with a princess, daughter of Inca Pachacútec, and was severely punished.

In the Ollantaytambo complex, located on a hill that dominates the town, outstanding buildings include the Sun Temple and its gigantic monoliths, the Mañaracay or Royal Hall, Incahuatana and the Princess’s bath. On the upper part of the complex, the fort is clearly visible, with a series of carved stone terraces built to protect the valley from possible invasions from ethnic groups that came from the jungle. Machu Picchu was never revealed to the conquering Spaniards and was virtually forgotten until the early part of the 20 th century when a young American historian Hiram Bingham discovered this lost city in 1911.

It was built by the Inca Pachacutec in the 15 th Century and is perched between two peaks offering incredible views of the Urubamba river valley and the snow-capped mountains in the distance. The architecture is adapted to the natural form of the mountains. Approximately 200 buildings are arranged on wide parallel terraces around a vast central square that is oriented east-west. The temples are part of the upper town, the warehouses the lower. Extensive terraces were used for agriculture and sophisticated channeling systems provided irrigation for the fields. Numerous stone stairways set in the walls allowed access to the different levels across the site. The eastern section of the city was said to be residential. The western, separated by the square, was for religious and ceremonial purposes.
